201: Language Barriers

The English language  is arguably much more complicated than Dog. Yet, perversely, more dogs understand bits of English than human beans understand bits of Dog.

Dogs walk to heel, fetch, roll over and so on based on a very brief English command. Yet humans still feed dogs according to a timetable rather than on demand/command.

Because I write this blog, I have picked up quite a bit of human vocabulary.  In fact, judging by the people I see on TV, I think my vocabulary is larger than that of many humans.  I am disappointed however, that I am unable to vocalise the words I know. I would love to be able to have conversations and discussions with a human bean.

Who would I most like to talk to?

Well, like many people, I would love to have conversations with erudite people like Stephen Fry,  Sandy Toksvig or Richard Dawkins.  I’m not sure whether they would agree to talk to me but I guess they would be interested in meeting a talking dog, and I guess TV companies would be interested in  facilitating a discussion or a series of discussions.

How about a series for senior (i.e. old) personalities called ‘Prepare to meet thy dog” or a general one called ‘Dogged Pursuit of Understanding’.  Perhaps these are a little too contrived?  More simply, ‘dog talk’?

You see, I have ideas.  I just need to be able to talk.  Then my ideas can escape the confines of this blog and reach a wider audience.

In the meantime, you remain the lucky ones.
