206: Name-tastic

You all know my name is Gina.  After all, this is Gina’s dog blog.

However, posh, real dogs like me have a formal name and an informal name .  My informal name is Gina.  My formal, pedigree name is Ewtor Encore … Ewtor being the pedigree line of my ancestry.

However, that is not the surprise of this blog post. I’m not sure why I haven’t realised this before but evidently my beans also have names.  It seems that TOWTSH is named John snd TOWTLH is named Jacqueline, but is known as Jacky.  (I don’t think Jacqueline is her formal name as it doesn’t represent a true pedigree line.)

So, from now on, if I remember, I will refer to them as John and Jacky.

I now think that all human beans have names and, a bit like informal names for dogs, there is a limited range and thus many people have the same name.  Humans therefore have to refer to people as John <Surname> or John from Exeter or John with the caliper on his leg or something else which makes it clear which one of many Johns they are talking about.

Unfortunately, as I can’t vocalise in human sounds, I can’t refer to them. or make requests of them, by name.  This makes it awkward to try and address certain requests to one of them rather than the other so I’ll just have to maintain my current stance of barking loudly until both of them react.

It does, though, make it easer for me to understand what human’s call ‘gossip’. When one of them is talking to a friend - in person or on the phone, and refers to ‘John’ or’Jacky’, I’ll know who is being talked about.

Life is going to get (more) interesting.
